Exness is a large multi-asset CFD broker that serves most retail clients through offshore-licensed entities (Seychelles, Curaçao, Mauritius, BVI), with local licences in South Africa, Kenya and Jordan. It offers MT4, MT5 and its own apps, low entry deposits and very high leverage, but no retail service in the EU, UK, US or Canada and no government-backed compensation scheme.

Exness overview

Exness is a multi-asset broker that offers CFDs on forex, metals, energies, crypto, indices and stocks. The group says it has 17 years of industry experience, more than 2,000 employees, 13 offices and 12 regulated entities, with its headquarters in Cyprus and financial statements audited by Deloitte.

The most important fact for a trader in Asia, Africa, Latin America or the Middle East is which Exness company you sign up with. Exness lists regulators in the British Virgin Islands, Curaçao, Cyprus, Jordan, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa and the UK. But its CySEC entity, Exness (Cy) Ltd, and its FCA entity, Exness (UK) Ltd, both state on their own websites that they do not offer services to retail clients. Retail clients outside Kenya, Jordan and South Africa are generally served by offshore entities such as Exness (SC) Ltd in Seychelles. Exness says the entity that holds your account is shown in the footer of your Personal Area.

The trading offer is broad: five account types, MT4 and MT5 on every account type, its own web terminal and app, more than 200 instruments, and account currencies that include NGN, KES, ZAR, GHS, INR, PKR, BDT, IDR, THB, VND, BRL, MXN, ARS, EGP, AED and SAR. Exness does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees, and it says most withdrawals are processed automatically.

The trade-offs are real. Leverage goes up to 1:2000 by default on small accounts and to 'unlimited' on eligible ones, which means a small price move can close your positions. There is no government-backed compensation scheme for clients. Exness acts as the market maker and is the counterparty to your trades.

Exness account types

Exness offers two Standard accounts and three professional accounts. All five can be opened on MT4 or MT5.

Standard Cent - Trades in cent lots, where 1 cent lot equals 0.01 standard lot. The balance is shown in cents (a $5 deposit shows as 500 USC). Spreads from 0.3 pips, no commission. A limited list of forex pairs, gold, silver, oil and three US indices. Exness says it is only available in certain regions, and demo accounts are not offered for this type.

Standard - The main retail account. Spreads from 0.2 pips, no commission, market execution, the full instrument range. Margin call at 60%, stop out at 0%. Exness only says the minimum deposit is low and depends on your payment method and region; third-party reports put it at around $10.

Pro - Spreads from 0.1 pips, no commission, instant execution on most instruments (requotes can happen) or market execution for some account currencies. Minimum first deposit from $200, depending on region.

Raw Spread - Spreads from 0.0 pips plus a fixed commission of up to $3.50 per lot per side. Market execution. Minimum first deposit from $200, depending on region.

Zero - Zero spread on the top 30 instruments for 95% of the day (and 50% of the day on other instruments), plus a commission from $0.05 per lot per side that varies by instrument. Spreads can rise above zero around news and rollover. Minimum first deposit from $200, depending on region.

Pro, Raw Spread and Zero have a 30% margin call level; all five accounts use a 0% stop out by default (20% for clients of the Kenyan and Jordanian entities). Registration automatically creates a real and a demo Standard MT5 account. Exness does not offer welcome or deposit bonuses.

Exness trading platforms

Exness supports five ways to trade:

MetaTrader 4 - Available on all account types, with Expert Advisors, custom indicators and the MQL4 tool set. Exness only supports MT4 build 1440 or newer.

MetaTrader 5 - Also available on all account types, with more timeframes and order types than MT4. Exness only supports MT5 build 4755 or newer. Some stocks are only available on MT5.

Exness Terminal - A browser-based terminal opened from the Personal Area, with TradingView-based charts and indicators, deposits and withdrawals from inside the terminal, and live chat. It works with Exness and MT5 accounts, but not in every region.

MT WebTerminal - The MetaQuotes browser terminal hosted on the Exness site, for MT4 and MT5 accounts. Automated trading and multi-chart view are not available here.

Exness Trade app - Exness's own app for Android and iOS (covered under mobile trading below).

Exness also offers a VPS for running Expert Advisors when you meet its balance or volume criteria, and a MultiTerminal for managing several MT accounts at once. For traders who use EAs, the main practical point is that MT4 and MT5 are available on every account type, so you are not forced into a more expensive account to automate.

Exness mobile trading

Exness Trade is the broker's own app for Android and iOS. It works with Exness and MT5-based accounts and covers trading, deposits, withdrawals, transfers between accounts, account verification and live chat with support. It also includes an economic news section and a position size calculator inside the order form, where you can set risk and stop loss and see the resulting volume.

If you trade on MT4, you need the MetaTrader 4 mobile app instead, since Exness Trade does not support MT4 accounts. The MT4 and MT5 mobile apps both work with Exness servers; you search for the broker server name when logging in.

Exness also notes that in some regions MT5 accounts can only be used with the MetaTrader 5 terminal and not with Exness's own terminals, so check what is available after you register.

Exness has published warnings about fake apps and impersonation scams, and advises downloading only from official stores and links. Use one of the stronger security types it offers (authenticator app, push notifications or passkeys) rather than SMS where possible.

Exness fees & spreads

Exness makes money from spreads, commissions on Raw Spread and Zero accounts, and swaps. It does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees itself.

Typical EUR/USD costs (Exness's own published previous-day averages, as reported for 30 September 2026):

  • Standard: about 0.8 pips, no commission (about $8 per standard lot)
  • Pro: about 0.6 pips, no commission
  • Raw Spread: from 0.0 pips plus commission (up to $3.50 per lot per side)
  • Zero: 0.0 pips for most of the day plus commission from $0.05 per lot per side

Gold (XAU/USD): Exness counts $0.01 as one gold pip, so its own site shows the Standard average as about 24 pips. On calc.forex we count $0.10 as a gold pip, which makes that about 2.4 pips, or roughly $24 per 100-ounce lot. Gold commission is $3.50 per lot per side on Raw Spread and $5.50 on Zero.

These are averages, not guarantees. Spreads change all the time and widen around news, rollover and market opens. Exness's website shows the average spread of the previous trading day, and the platforms show the live spread.

Swaps and swap-free: Swap is charged at 21:00 GMT (22:00 GMT in winter), tripled on Wednesday for forex and metals. Accounts start swap-free on major and many minor forex pairs, gold, silver, oil, indices and crypto, but Exness can remove swap-free status if you regularly hold large positions overnight. Clients registered in a listed set of Islamic countries (including Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco and Turkiye) get swap-free status on all instruments.

Admin fees on overnight orders: Exness reserves the right to charge an administration fee on positions held overnight if your trading activity falls outside what it considers mainly intraday trading. The published rates are per lot per night and can be large, for example $25 per lot on EUR/USD and $250 per lot on XAU/USD. Exness says it notifies you by email or in the Personal Area when this applies. If you hold positions for days or weeks, read this article in the help centre before you start.

Other costs: No inactivity fee was listed in the sources we checked, but real accounts with no activity can be archived after a few days. Your bank or payment provider may charge its own fees, and currency conversion applies if you deposit in a different currency from your account.

Exness copy trading

Exness no longer runs its own copy trading service. Its help centre states that creation of new strategies and investments is no longer available and that all existing investments and strategies were closed on 25 June 2026. Past history remains viewable in the Copy Trading tab of the Personal Area.

The remaining option is the Signals service built into MT4 and MT5. This is run by MetaQuotes, the maker of MetaTrader, and Exness states that it is not affiliated with it. You subscribe to a signal provider through the MetaTrader platform, and trades are copied into your Exness MT account. Fees, provider vetting and disputes are handled under MetaQuotes's terms, not Exness's.

If copy trading is the main reason you are choosing a broker, Exness is not the right choice in 2026. XM and eToro both run their own copy trading platforms.

Exness deposits & funding

Exness shows the payment methods available to you in the Deposit tab of the Personal Area. What you see depends on the country you registered from (which cannot be changed later), your verification status, and whether the payment provider is currently working.

Across regions, the methods include bank cards (including some prepaid cards, but not US-issued ones), bank transfers, e-wallets, cryptocurrency and local payment methods. Third-party reviews list bank card, bank wire, Bitcoin, Tether (USDT), Neteller and Skrill as withdrawal options in their tests. Each method shows its own processing time, minimum and maximum amount, and any fee from the provider.

Key rules from Exness's help centre:

  • Deposits can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Exness does not charge deposit fees; your bank or provider may.
  • Third-party payments are not allowed. The payment account must be in your own full legal name.
  • The currency you deposit in must also be used for withdrawal.
  • A first deposit is required before you can trade. Pro, Raw Spread and Zero accounts need at least $200 as a first deposit, depending on region.

Verification (proof of identity and proof of address) normally takes up to 24 hours according to Exness. Some payment methods are only unlocked after verification, so complete it before you deposit.

Exness withdrawals

Fast withdrawals are a large part of Exness's pitch. In a sponsored press release from September 2025, Exness said that 98% of withdrawal requests are processed automatically, while adding that processing times vary by payment method. A third-party test withdrawal reported by Traders Union took between about 15 minutes and 3 business days depending on method. Crypto and e-wallet withdrawals are usually the fastest; bank transfers and cards can take several business days on the bank's side.

Rules to know:

  • Withdrawals are available on weekends and holidays, but anything that needs a manual check can be delayed until the next working day.
  • Exness does not charge withdrawal fees. Your provider may.
  • The payment account must be in the same full legal name as your Exness account.
  • Deposits by bank card are refunded to that card first. Deposits by prepaid card must be withdrawn in full before profits can be withdrawn.
  • The most you can withdraw at any moment is your account's free margin.
  • Exness reserves the right to investigate, cancel or charge fees on withdrawals from accounts with no trading activity.
  • If you change your security type using face scan, withdrawals are blocked for 24 hours.

In public forums some users in specific countries report problems with particular methods, such as USDT or local bank transfers being unavailable or rejected for a period. Payment options in emerging markets change often, so check the Withdrawal tab for the current list before depositing.

How to open a Exness account

Opening an Exness account takes a few minutes, with verification usually completed within 24 hours.

Step 1: Register
Go to the Exness website or app and select Create an Account. Enter your country of residence, email address and a password. In some regions you can sign up with Google instead.

Step 2: Partner code (optional)
The form has an optional partner code field. Leave it empty if you were not given one.

Step 3: Confirm eligibility
Tick the box confirming that you are not a citizen or resident of the United States. Exness does not accept residents of countries where it does not offer services, and it does not accept nationals of served countries who live in a country it does not serve.

Step 4: Complete your profile
Add your personal details and the economic profile questions. Use your legal name exactly as it appears on your documents.

Step 5: Verify your identity and address
Upload a proof of identity (passport, national ID or driving licence) and a proof of address dated within the last six months, issued in the same country you registered from. Exness may also ask for a face scan or a video call.

Step 6: Open a trading account
A real and a demo Standard MT5 account are created automatically. Open other account types (Pro, Raw Spread, Zero, or an MT4 account) from My Accounts. Choose the account currency carefully, because it cannot be changed later.

Step 7: Set your leverage
Leverage can be changed in the Personal Area. The maximum available by default on small accounts is 1:2000; choose a much lower setting if you are new.

Step 8: Deposit and log in
Make your first deposit, then log in on the Exness Terminal, Exness Trade or MT4/MT5 using the server shown for your account.

How to deposit money to Exness

Step 1: Log in to your Personal Area and open the Deposit tab.

Step 2: Choose a payment method from the ones shown. Each shows its processing time, limits and any provider fee. If a method you expect is missing, it may be unavailable in your region, require verification, or be under maintenance.

Step 3: Select the trading account to fund and enter the amount. Deposit in your account currency where possible to avoid conversion.

Step 4: Confirm the summary and follow the provider's instructions (card page, banking app, e-wallet login, or a crypto wallet address).

Step 5: Check the balance in your terminal. If the deposit does not appear within the stated time, open Transaction history, select the transaction and choose Get support.

Tips:

  • Pay only from accounts in your own name; third-party payments are rejected.
  • Do not send money to Exness outside the Personal Area, even if someone claiming to be from Exness asks you to.
  • For crypto, check the network (for example TRC20 or ERC20) before sending.
  • Remember that you must withdraw in the same currency you deposited in.

How to withdraw from Exness

Step 1: Make sure your account is verified and that the money you want is free margin, not margin held by open positions.

Step 2: Open the Withdrawal tab in the Personal Area and choose a method. Exness shows previously successful methods under My saved methods.

Step 3: Select the trading account and enter the amount. If you deposited by bank card, the deposited amount goes back to that card first.

Step 4: Confirm the request with your security type (email code, SMS, authenticator app, push notification or passkey).

Step 5: Wait for the stated processing time. Most requests are processed automatically according to Exness; the time until the money reaches you depends on your bank, card issuer, e-wallet or blockchain.

If a withdrawal does not arrive: open Transaction history, select the transaction and choose Get support. Common causes are a name mismatch between the payment account and your Exness account, wrong account numbers, or a security-type change in the last 24 hours.

Exness trading conditions

Execution model: Exness describes itself as a multi-asset market maker. The Exness entity that holds your account is the sole counterparty to your trades, and pricing and execution are handled internally. Standard, Standard Cent, Raw Spread and Zero accounts use market execution; Pro uses instant execution (with possible requotes) for most instruments.

Leverage: Maximum leverage depends on equity:

  • $0 to $4,999.99: up to 1:2000 by default, or 1:Unlimited if eligible
  • $5,000 to $29,999.99: up to 1:2000
  • $30,000 to $99,999.99: up to 1:1000
  • $100,000 or more: up to 1:500

'Unlimited' leverage is only available on real accounts with equity under $5,000 after at least 10 closed orders totalling 5 lots, and only on forex majors and minors, most commodities and a few crypto pairs. Clients of Exness (KE) Limited in Kenya are capped at 1:400, and some instruments are capped at 1:100 for the Jordanian entity. Higher margin requirements apply around major news, weekends and market breaks. From October to November 2026 Exness is moving crypto, several metals, energies and US indices from fixed to dynamic margin, so they follow your account leverage.

Margin call and stop out: Margin call at 60% (Standard, Standard Cent) or 30% (Pro, Raw Spread, Zero). Stop out at 0% on all account types (20% for the Kenyan and Jordanian entities; up to 100% on stocks during daily breaks). Exness also offers Stop Out Protection, which can delay stop outs, but availability depends on Exness's own models and it may not be available on accounts set to unlimited leverage.

Order types: Market, limit and stop orders, stop loss and take profit, and trailing stops on MT4/MT5 desktop. Hedged positions have 0% margin.

Slippage rule: For pending orders, Exness fills at your requested price if the gap to the market is within a set range (for example 0 to 8 pips on EUR/USD) and at the market price if the gap is larger.

What this means in practice: A 0% stop out and very high leverage let positions stay open until equity reaches zero. That can feel forgiving, but it also means a losing position can use up the entire balance. Size positions from your stop loss, not from the leverage available.

Exness regulation explained

Which entity you are with matters more than the list of licences.

Offshore entities (most retail clients in Asia, Latin America and parts of Africa and the Middle East):

  • Exness (SC) Ltd, a securities dealer licensed by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles (licence SD025)
  • Exness B.V., licensed by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (licence 0003LSI)
  • Exness (VG) Ltd, licensed by the Financial Services Commission of the British Virgin Islands (licence SIBA/L/20/1133)
  • Exness (MU) Ltd, an investment dealer licensed by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius (licence GB20025294)

These regulators require a licence, capital and reporting, but they do not provide the retail protections that EU, UK or Australian rules do: no leverage caps, and no statutory investor compensation scheme.

Local entities:

  • Exness ZA (PTY) Ltd, an authorised financial services provider with the FSCA in South Africa
  • Exness (KE) Limited, licensed by the Capital Markets Authority of Kenya, with leverage capped at 1:400 and no crypto trading
  • An entity in Jordan regulated by the Jordan Securities Commission, with lower leverage on some instruments

Institutional-only entities:

  • Exness (Cy) Ltd, CySEC licence 178/12, and Exness (UK) Ltd, FCA number 730729. Both state on their own websites that they do not offer services to retail clients. An EU or UK resident cannot open a retail account with Exness.

Protections Exness provides:

  • Client funds held in omnibus accounts separate from company funds, with regular reconciliation
  • Negative balance protection: a negative balance after a stop out is reset to zero
  • Membership of the Financial Commission, a private dispute-resolution body whose compensation fund covers FC judgments up to EUR 20,000 per client. Exness itself notes that this fund does not cover trading losses or broker insolvency, and that there is no government-backed compensation scheme for its clients.

Bottom line: Exness is a large, long-running broker, but for most of this site's readers it is an offshore-regulated broker. Check the entity in your Personal Area footer, and check whether forex CFD trading with a foreign broker is legal where you live.

Is Exness safe?

Exness has been operating for many years, reports more than 2,000 employees, has its accounts audited by Deloitte, and holds licences in South Africa and Kenya as well as offshore. It segregates client funds, offers negative balance protection on all accounts, and confirms each withdrawal with a security code.

The weaknesses are structural:

  • Most retail clients are with Seychelles, Curaçao, BVI or Mauritius entities, which offer weaker protection than CySEC, FCA or ASIC regulation.
  • There is no government-backed compensation scheme. The Financial Commission fund only covers unpaid FC dispute rulings, not insolvency.
  • Exness is the counterparty to your trades as a market maker.
  • Regulators in the Philippines and India have publicly warned that Exness is not authorised in their countries.

For traders in South Africa or Kenya, the local entity adds a regulator you can complain to at home. For everyone else, treat money held at Exness as being under offshore regulation, keep only what you need for trading in the account, and withdraw profits regularly.

Exness verdict

Exness is a capable broker for experienced traders who want MetaTrader, many account currencies and low trading costs, and who accept offshore regulation.

Who it suits:

  • Traders in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East who want to fund and withdraw in local currency or crypto
  • MT4/MT5 users and EA traders, since every account type supports both
  • Active intraday traders who can use Raw Spread or Zero accounts
  • Traders in South Africa or Kenya, who can be served by a locally regulated entity

Who should look elsewhere:

  • EU, UK, US and Canadian residents (not accepted for retail accounts)
  • Anyone who wants investor compensation if the broker fails
  • Beginners who would be tempted by 1:2000 or unlimited leverage
  • Copy traders, since Exness closed its own copy trading service in June 2026
  • Swing traders holding large overnight positions, who should check the admin-fee policy first

How we scored it: Regulation and safety (25% weight) is the weakest category: most retail clients sit with offshore entities and there is no statutory compensation scheme. Trading costs (20%) are competitive, with a Standard EUR/USD average of about 0.8 pips and no Exness payment fees, offset by the possibility of overnight admin fees. Execution (20%) is a stated market-maker model with published slippage rules. Platforms (15%) are strong, with MT4, MT5 and Exness's own web terminal and app. Deposits and withdrawals (10%) are a strength, with mostly automated processing and 24/7 availability, though methods vary by country. Support (10%) is available 24/7 in seven languages.

Rating: 7.1/10 - Good platforms, costs and payments, scored below brokers that hold top-tier retail licences because of the offshore regulation behind most accounts.

Exness FAQ

Is Exness safe and regulated?

Exness is licensed in several places, but most retail clients are served by offshore entities in Seychelles, Curaçao, the BVI or Mauritius. Its CySEC and FCA entities do not take retail clients. Client funds are segregated and negative balance protection applies, but there is no government-backed compensation scheme. Clients in South Africa and Kenya can be served by locally regulated entities.

Which Exness entity will my account be with?

It depends on your country of residence. Exness says the entity holding your account is shown in the footer of your Personal Area. Kenyan clients are with Exness (KE) Limited; most other clients in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East are with an offshore entity such as Exness (SC) Ltd in Seychelles.

What is the minimum deposit at Exness?

For Standard and Standard Cent accounts Exness says the minimum is low and depends on your payment method and region; third-party reports put it at about $10. Pro, Raw Spread and Zero accounts need a first deposit from $200, depending on region.

What are Exness's spreads on EUR/USD and gold?

Exness's published previous-day averages for 30 September 2026 were about 0.8 pips on EUR/USD for Standard and about 0.6 for Pro. Raw Spread and Zero start at 0.0 pips plus commission. On gold, the Standard average was about 24 Exness pips, which is $0.24 per ounce or about $24 per lot. Spreads change constantly.

Does Exness charge commission?

Only on Raw Spread (up to $3.50 per lot per side) and Zero (from $0.05 per lot per side, varying by instrument). Standard, Standard Cent and Pro accounts are commission-free; the cost is in the spread.

How fast are Exness withdrawals?

Exness says 98% of withdrawals are processed automatically. The time until the money reaches you depends on the method: crypto and e-wallets are usually fastest, bank transfers and cards can take several business days. Exness does not charge withdrawal fees.

What leverage does Exness offer?

Up to 1:2000 on accounts with less than $5,000 equity, falling to 1:500 above $100,000. Eligible accounts under $5,000 can choose 'unlimited' leverage on some instruments. Kenyan clients are capped at 1:400. Higher leverage means faster losses; most traders should use far less than the maximum.

Does Exness offer copy trading?

Not any more. Exness closed all existing copy trading investments and strategies on 25 June 2026. You can still use the MetaTrader Signals service inside MT4 and MT5, which is run by MetaQuotes and is not affiliated with Exness.

Which countries does Exness not accept?

Exness does not serve citizens or residents of the United States, and it does not offer retail accounts in the EU, EEA or UK. Its country restrictions also cover Canada and a number of other countries, including some in Africa. Its help centre gives Malaysia as an example of a country where it does not offer services. If your country is not in the registration list, you cannot open an account.

Does Exness have Islamic swap-free accounts?

Clients registered in a list of Islamic countries, including Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco and Turkiye, get swap-free status on all instruments automatically. Other clients get swap-free on many major instruments by default, but Exness can withdraw it if you hold large positions overnight regularly.

What are Exness admin fees on overnight orders?

Exness reserves the right to charge a per-lot administration fee on positions held overnight if your trading activity is outside mainly intraday trading. Published rates include $25 per lot on EUR/USD and $250 per lot on XAU/USD. Exness says it notifies affected clients by email or in the Personal Area.

What platforms does Exness support?

MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, the browser-based Exness Terminal, the MetaQuotes WebTerminal, and the Exness Trade app for Android and iOS. All five account types are available on MT4 and MT5.

Does Exness offer negative balance protection?

Yes. If a stop out leaves your account negative, Exness resets the balance to zero automatically. Wait for the reset before depositing again, because depositing into an account with negative equity and open positions is not covered.

Does Exness offer bonuses?

No. Exness states that it does not offer welcome, deposit or trading bonuses. Some selected clients have access to its Exness Rewards loyalty programme, which converts part of trading costs into withdrawable cashback.

Is Exness good for beginners?

The low entry deposit, cent account and demo accounts make it easy to start, but leverage of up to 1:2000 and the 0% stop out let a beginner lose an entire balance quickly. If you use Exness as a beginner, set leverage low and size every trade from your stop loss.

How long does Exness verification take?

Exness says document checks can take up to 24 hours. You need a proof of identity and a proof of address dated within six months from the country you registered in. Some regions also use a face scan or video call.
